A Journey of Faith
RCIA - Rites of Christian Initiation
Jesus has given us the command to share the Good News of salvation!
We have the privilege of working in a ministry to assist those (both previously baptized and those not baptized) who are interested in the Roman Catholic Faith. Dubbed the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), after the ritual book that is used, this process begins with a period of inquiry and continues for several months with more in-depth study of the faith and Catholic practice.
There are several rituals throughout the process in which Candidates and their Sponsors participate.
Parishioners interested in being sponsors, i.e., accompanying the Candidates in their journey of faith, or in being a catechist (leading discussion/sharing on a topic) are asked to contact the Parish Office (314-832-2838).
Those who seek the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist) generally participate in these Sacraments at the Easter Vigil. Those previously baptized are received into full communion at the Easter Vigil or at another appropriate time.
Although those candidates participating in the RCIA process meet beginning in the end of August / early September through mid-May, parishioners who wish to assist are not required to be there each week.
Willingness to share your faith and to support those who are asking questions and discerning the grace of God in their life is what is necessary.
For more information please contact, the Parish Office, 314-832-2838.
